What are your tagging requirements for campaigns? (eg. Impression piggybacking)

To track impressions and clicks:

  • If you are using a 3rd party ad server to serve the creative & Tracking with mediasmart. Then you should:

  • Create a 3rd party tag creative. Mediasmart automatically tracks impressions in all types of creatives by using pixels that are fired at Ad Load / Ad Render Depending on Ad Exchanges (MoPub notifies the impression to Mediasmart).

  • Use mediasmart click macros. Doing so, one can have the right setup that fits with how the user is redirected to the landing page, or even when the redirection is not required. If one skips using a Mediasmart’s click tracking macro in a 3rd Party Tag, Mediasmart will still be able to track clicks, but the number of clicks won’t be reliable, as users’ interactions with Ads will be counted as clicks.

  • If you are serving the creative with mediasmart (Image/native/video/audio/dynamic) & Tracking with a 3rd party adserver. Then you should:

  • Add an impression pixel in the creative.

  • Use click commands as destination URL.

About piggybacking

Add a client pixel to an ad tag or a creative hosted in mediasmart is perfectly doable and there are not specific requirements. There's an HTML Impression Pixel area where you will be able to introduce extra code, usually impression pixels or viewability pixels in order to get more information about their ads impressions. They work in 3rd party tags and images.
