Overview

When the system tracks post-click conversions such as Web events or App Marketing, we recommend you test end-to-end the tracking of the campaign before Activating the campaign.

If you want to confirm tracking of a campaign is properly set up, you should Simulate an ad once it is linked to a particular campaign and has associated click URLs and impression pixels.

Formats supported for Simulation

Right now we support creative simulation for:

  • Images, Banners

  • Video, both hosted by us and External videos

  • Rich formats

  • Audio, when a companion video is included

  • 3rd party tags.

How to Simulate step-by-step

  1. Go to the Creatives section inside your campaign or strategy.

  2. Find the creative you want to simulate and click on the 'Simulate' button beside its name, as shown on the screenshot.

  3. A tab will open with your simulated creative; click on the ad to check it is working as intended.

  4. Check the campaign Status or go to Reports, to see if the system measured the impression, the clicks, or the conversions.

The Ad Exchange, the conversions should appear under the name 'clickcommand'.

For app marketing campaigns

Follow the guide above until step 3:

  1. Click on the simulated ad, and copy the URL

  2. Then, manually add your device's advertising ID (IFDA for iOS and GAID for Android) to it, by adding &udid=XXX to the query string, where XXX is replaced by your device ID.

  3. Press enter to simulate the click.

  4. Proceed to do the action to be tracked: download the corresponding app, make a purchase within the app, go to X level within the game, etc.

After 10 -15 minutes, you should also see the conversion(s) that you have configured your tracking tools to measure. You will know there is a problem if the conversions do not show even if you have triggered them with the test.

  5. Check the campaign Status or go to Reports, to see if the system measured the conversions. The Ad Exchange, the conversions should appear under the name 'clickcommand'.

Note that this step is only required if you wish to simulate what happens when the ad is served within an application that passes information. If you do not enter the device id parameter, you will simulate an environment where the ad is served on the web, or within an app that does not provide the device advertising ID.
